Editorial Assistant & Undergraduate Researcher

Through the USU Office of Research’s Undergraduate Research Program, Dr. Gossard received a Utah Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters grant to hire a summer (10 weeks; 100 hours total) editorial assistant. This editorial assistant will be an undergraduate student enrolled for Fall 2024 at USU (does not need to be enrolled for the summer) and in their first, second, or third-year. The editorial assistant will serve an essential role in helping to publish a special issue of the journal, Teaching History: A Journal of Methods, about the rise of generative artificial intelligence in the history classroom. They will also receive professional development through the program, regular meetings with Dr. G, and will be able to present on their research in future semesters.

For their work, students will receive a $2000 non-qualified scholarship for up to 100 hours worth of work across 10 weeks.

This is ideal for students who are: interested in the publishing profession; may want to go on to the teaching profession; are technical writers; and want a research experience early in their academic career with a supportive mentor.
